Many of us have engrained beliefs that there are “good” and “bad” emotions and that we shouldn’t feel any “bad” emotions - or worse, express them - for fear of being judged as “too sensitive," “weak,” “ungrateful," etc.
That's certainly been the case for me, which has led to a lot of undoing and relearning to accept all of my emotions…no matter how uncomfortable or painful they may be.
As a Certified Professional Coach, I believe that it is important to be mindful of our emotions and to shift that emotional energy when we’re ready to up-level our lives (that’s what I help women do in my coaching practice every day), but I also believe it is absolutely necessary to not avoid or numb out from facing our emotions head on in the process.
hERE’S THE TRUTH
We can hold conflicting emotions simultaneously. We can be grateful yet hurting, going through hardships yet focused on our next-level dreams, experiencing pain yet still showing up. Healing and growth don't happen by avoiding emotions; they happen when we wholeheartedly acknowledge and process our feelings.
here are some more truths
All emotions serve a purpose.
There are no “good” or “bad” emotions… those are judgments that prevent us from fully living.
Avoiding emotions is detrimental to our mental and physical health.
Fear of emotions can lead to suppression through avoidance behavior.
When we learn to identify and work with our emotions, we feel and function better.
The only negative emotion is the emotion that is left unexpressed.
Remember, healing begins when we embrace and allow ourselves to feel our emotions, nurturing ourselves through the tough times.
