I want to share a powerful insight that can help you move closer to your goals and dreams this year.

Recently, I had a consultation call with a new client who beautifully expressed her desire to gain clarity on her soul-led purpose. She had followed some “breadcrumbs” left by the Universe and came up with a vision of what she wanted to achieve. However, as we dove deeper into our conversation, I realized she was in a state of freeze. Her mind knew the path she wanted to take, but her body wouldn't allow her to move forward for some reason.

HAVE YOU EVER EXPERIENCED THIS?

This is a reminder of the importance of taking small, imperfect action forward, especially when your goals feel overwhelming. Focusing too much on our end vision can overwhelm our nervous system, leading to a state of paralysis or freeze. This is why it's crucial to break down our goals into manageable steps.

AN EXAMPLE FROM MY OWN JOURNEY

When I went full-time with my coaching practice, the idea of building my newsletter felt incredibly daunting. I wanted to serve others through my years of knowledge and coaching experience, but the sheer size of this goal left me feeling stuck. So stuck that I actually put it off for a while! Once I shifted my mindset from only looking at the end result to taking small, actionable steps that felt manageable, everything changed.

HOW I BEGAN TAKING ACTION

For example, I began by signing up for Flodesk, watching videos on how to create an email newsletter, writing a single email about my services (if you're curious, here is my first-ever email that went out to a whopping 30 people), spending just a few minutes each day brainstorming ideas for my newsletter, and challenging myself to send out an email every single Monday (I loooove a good challenge!). Each of these small actions was a step forward, helping to build momentum, gradually move me closer to my larger goal of having a successful newsletter, and also give me a boost in confidence.

here are some OTHER examples:

  • If you're seeking a career change but feel overwhelmed:
Start by updating your resume or LinkedIn profile with your current skills and experiences. Spend only 10 minutes each day researching industries or roles that interest you.

  • If you want to improve your health:
Begin by incorporating a short, daily exercise routine into your schedule, such as a 10-minute walk or a quick yoga session.

  • If you're looking to volunteer and give back:
Research local organizations or causes that resonate with you, and start by committing to one small volunteer opportunity or event.

  • If you desire to find a creative hobby:
Dedicate a small amount of time each day to explore your interests, whether it's painting, writing, or playing an instrument.

  • If you're looking to build community:
Reach out to one old friend or colleague each week to reconnect.

  • If you want to build your finances up:
Spend a few minutes each day reading articles or watching videos on personal finance, budgeting, or investing.

  • If you're aiming to declutter and organize your home:
Start with one small area, like a single drawer or a corner of a room, and dedicate just 10 minutes to organizing it.

  • If you seek to improve your mental well-being:
Integrate a daily mindfulness or meditation practice, even if it's just for five minutes, to help ground your mind and reduce stress.

Each small, imperfect step forward is a step toward your dreams. By focusing on smaller actions, you can gradually move forward without overwhelming your nervous system. Over time, these steps accumulate, and before you know it, you'll have built a solid path to your goals and have built your confidence along the way! A win-win!

SMALL STEPS > MASSIVE ACTION

Remember, progress doesn't always come from massive action. Most of the time, it's the small, imperfect steps that make all the difference.
