We’ve all had those mornings…

We’ve all had those mornings when getting out of bed feels impossible, even if you’re usually a morning person. That’s when a morning routine becomes a true game-changer.

It’s not just about maximizing productivity — it’s about creating an intentional morning that sets the tone for a fulfilling day.

Over the nearly decade I’ve spent coaching, I’ve seen how simple, intentional practices can lead to more energy, increased productivity, and a deeper sense of alignment. Here are some of my favorite morning practices, inspired by The Miracle Morning, that have helped me (and my clients) show up as our next-level selves.

1. Begin Your Day with Silence

Starting your day with silence can be transformational. With constant noise and demands, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Incorporating nervous system regulation techniques, like a supportive breathwork practice, can be a game-changer. Before even picking up your phone, take a few minutes to focus on your breath and settle into stillness. This morning mindfulness practice helps you stay calm and grounded, especially on busy days packed with client sessions and meetings.

2. Use Affirmations

Affirmations are powerful tools for shifting your mindset and creating the reality you desire. Choose affirmations that resonate with your goals and vision. Every morning, as soon as your feet hit the floor, remind yourself: “Today is going to be amazing, and I have everything I need within me to make it so.” This practice brings positivity and purpose to each day.

3. Use Mental Rehearsal

Mental rehearsal is one of the most powerful mindset practices. It’s like a mental warm-up that helps you embody the energy and attitude needed to achieve your goals. Ask yourself, “How would my next-level self show up today?” Then, visualize your day—whether coaching clients, traveling, cooking, or working out. Imagine yourself moving through each part of the day as your most empowered self. Here’s a guided visualization that can help you connect with your next-level self.

4. Morning Movement

Integrating movement into your morning routine is essential for both physical and mental well-being. Consider taking a 1-2 mile walk each day — this can ground you and help your focus, even on the busiest days. To take it to the next-level, incorporate strength training, HIIT, Pilates classes, or anything else that feels good to you a few times a week. These workouts not only boost your physical strength but also cultivate mental toughness and clarity.

5. Read 10 Pages

Many people find that reading 10 or more pages in the morning sparks creativity and keeps their minds sharp. Whether you dive into personal development or explore lighter reading material, morning reading can enrich your day and open your mind to new ideas.

6. Journaling Practice

If you used to journal regularly but fell out of the habit, now is a great time to bring it back to connect deeper with your next-level self. Whether it’s gratitude journaling or visualizing your future through “Future Self” journaling, writing can help you stay focused and solidify your goals.

A note about Habit tracking

Using a habit tracker can be a game-changer in cultivating a successful morning routine. By tracking your morning routine, you create a visual representation of your commitment to personal growth and intentional living. Whether it’s logging your moments of silence, affirmations, mental rehearsals, movement, reading, or journaling, this simple tool helps reinforce your efforts and keeps you accountable. Each time you check off a completed task, you celebrate your progress and build momentum towards your goals. Plus, reflecting on your achievements over time can boost your motivation and inspire you to maintain those positive habits. So grab your habit tracker and start turning your morning routine into a powerful catalyst for transformation!

Remember…

Your morning routine is entirely yours to customize. It doesn’t have to be lengthy or complex — sometimes, even five minutes of intentional morning practices can change your mindset and shape your day. What will you intentionally add to your morning routine this week?
